About Us

    About Simon Barningham Funeral Directors

At Simon Barningham Funeral Directors, we have been helping local families at one of the most difficult times since 1961.

Simon Barningham Funeral Directors was established before the First World War by Ernest Bagshaw. Simon Barningham’s uncle bought the funeral business and Simon himself joined straight from school. After his uncle died in 1984, Simon took over and subsequently re-named it Simon Barningham Funeral Directors, running it with the support of his family. We serve Grinton, Richmond and the surrounding North Yorkshire areas. We have a close, trusting relationship with many local families.

We recognise how important it is to be at the heart of our local communities and our responsibilities extend beyond the immediate needs of arranging funeral services and supporting the bereaved at a very emotional time in life.

The team at our funeral home will provide advice at every stage of the funeral planning process, and will arrange an individual and unique funeral to help you celebrate the life of your loved one.

Here at Simon Barningham Funeral Directors we also offer a prepaid funeral plan, Choice, so that you can arrange and pay for a funeral in advance.

If you would like to talk to us about planning a funeral, or our Choice plan, please come and see us in any of our funeral homes, or if you’d rather we can arrange a home visit. We’re also available 24 hours a day on the phone so if you need anything please don’t hesitate to call your local funeral home.
